Amy G: Brooklyn (yelp.com review)
If heaven was on earth, and full of the most delicious vegan ice cream, it would be Stogo.
I am a vegan ice cream connoisseur (see profile picture, please). It is my lifes duty to eat my way through life one scoop at a time. I intend to carry this task out at Stogo.
Enough cheesy anecdotes. This place is just awesome. Sorry Lula’s, but this place puts you to SHAME. After a trip from San Francisco, I wished that Maggie Mudds would open a location in NYC. I no longer need you Maggie, I’m sorry.
I walked in expecting, like Lulas, for a half-dozen or so flavors. Instead there was a full case with probably 15 choices - sample as many as you like (the oatmeal cookie, bananas foster, red velvet cake, peanut butter fudge, and toasted almond joy were most memorable). The adorable girl working behind the counter also informed me that a soft-serve machine will be up and running as soon as the weather is officially warmer.
There’s also a bakery case with Babycakes items, a few jars full of cookies, and a sign about making a customized ice cream sandwich (again, HEAVEN).
So spacious, and frankly, the display of everything is so aesthetically pleasing. Clean and bright, and right across from the church with park benches — it’s going to be fantastic come summer.
I had a massive and decadent “regular” at $5.75 (Yes, it’s a little pricey, but I paid $4 something for a soft serve cone at Lula’s that was hardly comparable) with peanut butter fudge, and bananas foster. Both were AMAZING. I seriously will be dreaming about this place until I burn off enough calories to return.
